SARASOTA, Fla. -- There is new information about two local police departments and its alleged use of the Stingray surveillance program.

The Stingray is a cell phone tracking device that mimics a cell phone tower.

The ACLU has released several emails dating back to 2009 indicating that, at the request of the feds, police conceal their use of the surveillance equipment.

ABC 7's Max Winitz spoke to Michael Barfield, with the ACLU of Florida about this privacy debate.

My name is Scott.
