Gandolfini was overweight, a known cigar smoker who loved to load up on pasta and dessert, combined these lifestyle choices may have been a recipe for heart disease.

What can Suncoast residents do to keep their heart healthy and keep it pumping efficiently?

Cardiologists recommend giving up the cigarettes and cigars, and keeping your weight down by eating a low fat, heart healthy diet. They also say you should exercise to strengthen your heart. When you are carrying extra weight your heart has to work harder to pump the blood which can weaken it.

Although there are genetic heart conditions, pro-active lifestyle choices can help you live a healthier, longer life.
