FWC rescues manatees trapped in canal, due to rising water from Hurricane Michael.

FWC says during hurricanes manatees may become stranded or trapped when rising water may flood areas not normally used by manatees. When water levels recede, manatees can become cut off from their connection to the main water body.

If you encounter a stranded, injured or dead manatee, please call FWC's Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922 or text/email Tip@MyFWC.com.
