MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - Four people are accused of trying to sell more than a kilo of heroin in Manatee County.

On Friday, Rafael Sanchez, 30, of Palmetto; Jerome Miller, 29, of Bradenton; James McClinton, 39, of Orlando; and Jose Venegas, 23, of Dade City were indicted on charges of conspiring to distribute more than a kilogram of heroin and possession with the intent to distribute more than a kilogram of heroin.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says the DEA conducted a search warrant at a home in Dade City, where the four are accused of cutting up pure heroin to sell on the streets of Manatee County. Agents recovered 1,400 grams of pure heroin and 900 grams of cutting agents, as well as around two ounces of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and a handgun.

If convicted on all counts, each suspect faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years, and up to life, in federal prison. The indictment also notifies the defendants that the United States intends to forfeit assets and property that are alleged to be traceable to proceeds of the offense.
