TALLAHASSE, FL (WWSB) - Governor Rick Scott is asking the Defense Department to pick Jacksonville as the new location for the Air National Guard's F-35A Lighting II aircraft.
Jacksonville is currently home to the Florida Air National Guard's 125th Fighter Wing, and was selected as one of the five final contenders to get the new fighter jets.
In his letter to Secretary of Defense James Mattis, Gov. Scott notes that the 125th Fighter Wing meets the basing requirements listed by the U.S. Air Force for the new aircraft.
