TALLAHASSEE, FL (WWSB) - The Florida Lottery says the Port Richey man who won the $451 million MEGA MILLIONS® jackpot earlier this month has claimed his winnings in Tallahassee.
Shane Missler, 20, chose to receive his winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment in the amount of $281,874,999.00.
The jackpot-winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven, located at 7131 Ridge Road in Port Richey.
When asked what he plans to do with the money Missler said he hopes to pursue a variety of passions.
“I’m only 20, but I hope to use it to pursue a variety of passions, help my family and do some good for humanity,” says Missler.
The announcement comes on the 30th anniversary of the Florida Lottery. Since 1988 lottery games have paid more than $56.3 billion in prizes and made more than 2,000 people millionaires, according to the Florida Lottery.
Missler, the trustee of Secret 007, LLC, which will receive the lump-sum payment, declined the opportunity to take a photo or conduct interviews with the media.
