First Alert Weather: The big chill is on for Thursday morning

Sarasota, FL (WWSB) - We have gone from bathing suits to bundling up in just a matter of a week.

Two cold fronts have made their way through the Suncoast bringing the coldest air of the season our way, FINALLY!

It has been a very hot Summer followed by an unusually warm Fall.  We all so deserve this cool down albeit only for a couple of days.

Overnight lows are expected in the mid to upper 50s near the coast and upper 40s to low 50s inland.  The last time we hit 50 was back in early April.

Thursday will be sunny and mild, in fact just beautiful with highs in the mid 70s and low humidity.  By Friday temperatures will gradually warm to near normal (83 degrees).  Although it will still be rather dry so it will not feel all that bad.

The weekend brings a much better chance for some showers and thunderstorms.  There is an area of low pressure in the W. Caribbean which will move North and run into another cold front moving South.

These two features will move in mainly later in the day on Saturday and last through early Sunday morning.   We could possibly see some fairly impressive rainfall depending upon how much this low pressre system develops over the next couple of days.

Stay tuned.
