First Alert Weather: Strong winds damage 4 homes in Sarasota

SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - Two locations were hit by strong winds on Monday, including on Fort Street in Venice and in Nokomis.

The strong winds also moved through Nokomis, causing damage there to several manufactured homes in Lake Village around 4:45pm on Monday.

Strong winds bring damage to parts of Suncoast

The damage was to carports, roofs, and windows as debris picked up by the wind smashed into the windows and vehicles.

Residents said it seemed like a tornado was blowing through. The National Weather Service said it was straight line winds which caused the damage.  Winds were estimated to be 40 -50 mph.


Strong winds whip through Lake Village in Nokomis

We can expect another round of these storms to develop Tuesday afternoon and evening.
