SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - Two locations were hit by strong winds on Monday, including on Fort Street in Venice and in Nokomis.
Watch the video player above to see a live report on Facebook from Rick Adams from Fort Street in Venice. Some homes there received considerable damage around 4pm.
The strong winds also moved through Nokomis, causing damage there to several manufactured homes in Lake Village around 4:45pm on Monday.
The damage was to carports, roofs, and windows as debris picked up by the wind smashed into the windows and vehicles.
Residents said it seemed like a tornado was blowing through. The National Weather Service said it was straight line winds which caused the damage. Winds were estimated to be 40 -50 mph.
We can expect another round of these storms to develop Tuesday afternoon and evening.
