Sarasota FL (WWSB) - If your headed out to the area beaches in Sarasota County you may encounter the effects of Red Tide.
The latest report from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is showing background to medium concentrations of the harmful algal Bloom know as Karenia Brevis or Red Tide.
Medium concentrations are known to cause fish kills where the red tide is present. There have been no reports at this time of any fish washing up on area beaches in Sarasota County.
The red tide samples are showing up from Venice southward through Lee County in Ft. Myers.
As for the weather expect a chilly start to the day on Thursday with lows in the upper 40s away from the water and low 50s near the area beaches.
Despite the abundant sunshine expected on Thursday we will only see highs in the mid 60s due to the North winds.
Clear and cold Thursday night through Friday morning with lows in the mid to upper 40s. Staying below average on Friday with a high around 69.
Saturday we warm into the mid 70s with partly cloudy skies. On Sunday we can expect increasing cloudiness in the afternoon with a good chance for late afternoon and evening showers and isolated thunderstorms.
