Sarasota, CO. FL. (WWSB) - Some heavy rain fell across parts of the Suncoast late Friday after another day a record heat.
The high today at SRQ was 97 degrees setting another record for the 4th day in a row at the Sarasota/Bradenton airport.
With a steady stream of moisture moving up from the Bahamas we saw some impressive rainfall totals in places across the Suncoast. In Palmetto nearly 2" of rain fell, while near Lakewood Ranch the totals were well over 1.5"
Some slightly drier air will move in on Saturday, but we should still see a few afternoon and evening storms pop up once again along the sea breeze near the coast.
Highs will be in the low 90s on Saturday and Sunday with slightly cooler weather moving in to start the work week.
A cold front will move into the Panhandle of FL. on Monday which will switch the overall wind flow around to the SW which typically favors inland storms pushing toward the E. coast of Florida late in the day on Monday.
Have a great weekend.
