BRADENTON, Fla. --  A Bradenton man is facing aggravated battery and stabbing charges after he stabbed another man who stepped in to stop a fight.

It happened around 7 p.m. Sunday night at the Orange Grove mobile home park located off 26th street in Bradenton.  According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report, the suspect, Joseph Covino, and his girlfriend Heather Henry got into a verbal argument.  Covino allegedly began punching Henry, so a mutual friend, Jason Kline, stepped in to break it up.  Covino reportedly turned on Kine and began fighting with him instead.

Covino then armed himself with a knife and stabbed Kline in the neck, back and groin.  Covino then ran off.  Deputies were called to the scene.  Kline was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.  Deputies soon after caught up with Covino and arrested him.  He is being held at the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
