SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Ron DeSantis is coming under continued criticism for launching a new attack ad against his Democratic opponent Mayor Andrew Gillum of Tallahassee as hurricane Michael was bearing down on Florida’s capitol city.

Craig Fugate, who over saw Emergency Service for Florida under Governor Jeb Bush and became the Administrator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency took to Twitter to say, “I would encourage all Florida candidates running for office to use this time to help raise funds for the Red Cross.”

Former Florida Governor Bob Graham told ABC7 in an exclusive interview “In my 50 years of politics I’ve never candidates take part in political attacks during a natural disaster.”

In response, DeSantis told the Tampa Bay Times, "You run your campaign the way you run your campaign.  It is what it is.  We had all this planned out long before.”
