Deputies: 3 convicted felons arrested after trafficking amounts of heroin, fentanyl found

SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested three convicted felons on multiple felony charges.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, an investigation revealed trafficking amounts of fentanyl and heroin. Detectives executed a search warrant on Joseph Wright's home and found more than 46 grams of heroin, 30 grams of fentanyl and 4 grams of cocaine. Detectives say they also found a .45 caliber handgun and ammunition. 

As part of the undercover investigation, detectives arrested Reginald McKenzie, 37,  and Tiffany Johnson, 41, two of Wright’s associates.

Joseph Wright, 46, is charged with the following:

  • Trafficking in Fentanyl
  • Trafficking in Heroin
  • Principle to Saleof Fentanyl
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Two counts of Driving While License Suspended

Johnson was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for Violation of Probation related to Grand Theft and was later charged with Sale of Fentanyl.

McKenzie was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for Possession of Fentanyl and Possession of Narcotic Equipment and Driving With Suspended  License. 

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is continuing and additional charges are pending.
