Charlotte High School-Robotics Successful in State qualified tournament

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- The Tarpon Robotics teams competed at the USFirst FTC State Robotics Championships at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Saturday, February 1. It was a day to remember for the Tarpon Family.

2nd year team, FTC6451 had a 5 win and 1 loss record for the main day tournament, earning them a 4th place ranking out of 24 teams. They were ranked 16th in the State coming into the event. With the high rank in the State Tournament, they earned a trip to the South Super-Regional Championship in San Antonio, Texas on Feb.26-28.  In addition, the team also won the Promote award. This award is given to the team that is most successful in creating a compelling video message for the public designed to change our culture and celebrate science, technology, engineering and math.

The three day tournament will feature 71 teams from 12 states in our region. If the Tarpon team finishes in the top third, it will advance to the FTC World Championship on April 23-26, 2014, at the Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis, Mo. 128 FTC teams advance from Super-Regional Championships and International Tournaments to the World Championship and competed for the top spots in FTC.
