Charlotte County Marine Patrol makes 8 arrests for fishing out of season

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL-Over a two day period last weekend, while conducting recreational fisheries checks, the Sheriff’s Office’s Marine Patrol Unit seized more than 20 undersized or out of season fish and made eight arrests.

On Friday March 7, Marine Officers cited Lloyd S. Gordon, 70, for having an undersized Sheepshead and Mangrove Snapper concealed under other legal sized fish.  Gordon had been fishing in the Boca Grande area.

Beginning at noon on Saturday March 8, while patrolling in the Boca Grande area, the Marine Unit met with 7 more people who received citations.  Albert J. Thomas Jr. was issued a Notice to Appear citation for having undersized Sheepshead. 

Shortly afterward, deputies cited Rolence Saintil, 38, Mercidieu Voltaire, 50, and Elizert Milhomme, 34, for having a total of 11 undersized Sheepshead.  They had been fishing in the Boca Grande area.

Jonatan Serrano, 19, was fishing on the Placida fishing Pier when he was found to be in possession of an undersized Sheepshead.  Serrano was issued a Notice to Appear.

At about 3:30 pm Saturday, they located Mark E. Hamsher, 43, near the entrance to the Placida Boat Ramp and found him in possession of an out-of-season Gag Grouper.  He was also given a Notice to Appear citation.

Ricardo A. Zaldivar Chavez, 41, was fishing from the abutment of the Coral Creek Bridge when deputies spoke with him.  He was found to be in possession of three undersized Sheepshead.
