NORTH PORT, FL (WWSB) - Officials say a brush fire in North Port burned approximately 10 acres late Sunday afternoon.
According to officials with the City of North Port, fire and rescue crews responded to the area of Havelock Avenue and Snover Avenue off of North Chamberlain Boulevard just before 3:15 p.m.
Once on scene, firefighters from Charlotte County and the Florida Forest Service were called in to assist NPFR in extinguishing the flames.
By 4:38 p.m. emergency crews had the fire under control. Initial reports state that the blaze was started by an unattended campfire.
No homes were damaged during the fire.
