BRADENTON, FL (WWSB) - A Bradenton man will spend five years in federal prison for selling heroin mixed with fentanyl.

Bobby Harper, 23, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in April to distributing more than 40 grams of fentanyl. Harper was arrested in April 2017 after a confidential informant purchased two ounces heroin mixed with fentanyl from Harper for $5,600 at a location in Manatee County.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is incredibly potent. Frequently mixed with heroin, it is one of the drivers behind the overdose epidemic plaguing the country. As little as two milligrams can be a lethal dose for most people.
