Sarasota, FL- In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, local leaders will hold a Blue Ribbon Luncheon on April 17 to honor those who work in preventing or treating child abuse. Honorary speakers include Circuit Twelve’s Honorable Judge Haworth, Department of Children Families Regional Managing Director Mike Carroll and Child Protection Center Executive Director Doug Stanley.
Florida’s future to success relies on the healthy growth and development of all children. During April, National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Safe Children Coalition and the Department of Children and Families encourages Sarasota County to come together to celebrate efforts to ensure all children have the safe, stable, nurturing environments they need to thrive.
“April is a time to celebrate the important role that communities play in protecting children,” said Brena Slater, Vice President of Operations, the Safe Children Coalition. “Everyone’s participation is critical. Focusing on ways to build and promote the protective factors, in every interaction with children and families, is the best thing our community can do to prevent child maltreatment and promote optimal child development.”
