After 35 years Sarasota County Fire Chief to retire

SARASOTA, FL-  Friends, co-workers and county officials will bid a fond farewell to Sarasota County Fire Chief Mike Tobias.

After 35 years working in public service Tobias will retire on May 30th.  He graduated from Venice High School before going to work for the county as an E.M.T.  Not long after he moved over the fire department.  In 1990 he was promoted to a Battalion Chief. Then in 2011 he was promoted to County Fire Chief.

A farewell party is being given today in Tobias' honor.  The public is invited to attend.  It will happen at 1:30 p.m. at the county administrative building on Ringling Blvd.
