SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - In a little more than a month, Suncoast students will pack up their book bags and head back to class. Sarasota and Manatee County School Districts have their school security plans in place, but the question still stands about what charter schools plan to do.
As of now, some Suncoast charter schools already have their security plans for the 2018-2019 school year in place. Others have yet to decide.
Coming up Wednesday night on ABC 7 at 7, we'll take you to both Sarasota and Manatee counties and tell you what area charter schools plan to do to meet school security requirements that were handed down from the state.
Some plan to go with school guardians, arming non-instructional personnel.
Others are finding a way to pay for school resource officers and deputies.
Tonight at 7, we'll take you inside the training for the school guardian program. You'll also hear from one of these charter schools about what went into making their school security plan decisions.
