SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - More than 21,000 students in Sarasota County alone are on free or reduced lunch programs according to the school district. The concern is what happens when school lets out for the summer.

A new campaign against summer hunger kicked off this week. For the next 40 days All Faiths Food Bank hopes to bring in funds and food.  They've already brought in $500,000 and hope the community steps up to match it.

The goal is to create more feeding sites and how much they can give away out of their mobile food pantries. They also want to keep stuffing the more than 80,000 bags of food they are able to hand students for the weekends.

You can also currently drop non-perishable food items off at any area Goodwill store or fire department.

We will have much more on the new campaign coming up this evening on ABC 7. In the meantime you check out the efforts at www.skipalunch.org
