SARASOTA COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - The National Weather Service is issuing a flood warning for the Myakka River. People in Myakka City are seeing the early stages of that flooding, and the river is expected to crest Wednesday evening.
The river is expected to crest at 10.5 ft., nearly two feet higher than the rise that caused flooding a few weeks ago.
The highest level in recent history happened back in 2003, when the river crest at 12 ft.
The weather service is warning people near the river not to take this lightly, and the flooding over the next day could be catastrophic.
