NORTH PORT, Fla. - Change is on the way to Sumter Boulevard in North Port, as the city announces plans to improve the high traffic roadway.

Earlier this year, North Port received a state infrastructure loan worth $10 million to repair and widen the roadway, which currently goes from four lanes, down to two lanes, and back to four lanes.

In addition to the widening, a beautification and repair project are also in the works. Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year.

What's the cost to tax payers? 7 South Newsroom Reporter Josh Taylor is on the story, and will bring you additional details.
