PALMETTO, FLA. – Palmetto Police have been hot on the trail of a loose monkey. So far, the fugitive monkey has avoided capture and has been difficult to spot.

Police Chief Rick Wells told ABC 7 that by the time his officers respond to a call, the monkey has disappeared.

The most recent sighting of the monkey was at the corner of 4th Street and 12th Avenue west.  The primate has also been seen monkeying around in a local cemetery and on Snead Island.

ABC 7’s Todd Dunn is following the story and will have more during tonight’s ABC 7 News at 6.
