Dr. Fong was awarded both his B.S. and M.D. from the five-year accelerated Penn State Jefferson Medical Scholars Program with high honors and distinction in science in 1987. He completed his general surgical training at Columbia University- affiliated Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, N.Y. He completed his cardiothoracic training at the University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, N.Y.
Today, Dr. Fong works in complete cooperation with Venice Regional Medical Center. He and other physicians there have built a program that provides the highest quality of care using the most appropriate and latest technologies. As a result, Venice Regional Medical Center has been recognized nationally for multiple years as a ‘Top 100′ Cardiovascular program.
Dr. Fong is a member of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Christian Medical and Dental Association and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has accomplished many honors and awards such as the Golden Apple Resident Teaching Award and the Golden Stethoscope Teaching Award. He is also the past winner of the Resident Oral Presentation Competition.
