BRADENTON, Fla. – ABC 7 has confirmed that an officer with the Bradenton Police Department shot and killed a person late Sunday night. It happened in a residential neighborhood located in the 3200 block of Oxford Drive West in Bradenton sometime shortly after 10 p.m.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports Florida’s Agency for Healthcare Administration (ACHA) says it is too early to determine whether StayWell Wellcare’s decision to drop Sarasota Memorial Hospital from its network on December 31 violates Medicaid insurance guidelines. The feds require states to ensure Medicaid recipients have access to care near where they reside. It appears no decision may be forthcoming until the contact between StayWell and SMH ends.
