VENICE, Fla. - The Venice City Council has approved commercial development on a chunk of land near the city's airport.

The 65 acres of land, located northeast of the airport near the Circus Bridge, includes the area that was once the winter home of the Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus.

An ordinance that says the land should be only for public use will be amended to allow more commercial development, such as condos, restaurants and more.

ABC 7’s Josh Taylor will have more on this story tonight on ABC 7 News at 5 & 6.
