VENICE, FL - The Venice Pier Group is expecting around 1,000 applicants for 100 jobs at their three locations this week. They currently operate Snook Haven on the Myakka River, Sharky's on the Gulf, and a new, more upscale, restaurant set to open next door called Fins.

For the first time the family owned company is holding a job fair. They believe their benefits package for a small company stands out to those looking for work. "We offer 401k, health insurance, dental insurance, and employee savings plan, emergency fund, and YMCA membership," says owner Justin Pachota.

in 2010 the unemployment rate in the area was close to 13%. Now it sits at around 7%. Still not easy to find work. Debbi Castle says the benefits stand out when looking. "To find a good one with benefits is even harder."

We will have much more on this story coming up this evening on ABC 7.
