MANATEE COUNTY, FL - Interest in the proposed Long Bar Pointe project continues to grow.

The project calls for more than one-thousand new residences, a hotel, retail space and a marina to be built along the bay front, south of Cortez Village.

Some residents are against the plans, which have yet been formally presented to the county, saying it will harm the area's environment.

There is so much public intrigue about the project, county commissioners are announcing that they will hold next month's public meeting on the matter at the Bradenton Area Convention Center.

ABC 7 Reporter Bobeth Yates will bring you more on what the project means for Suncoast residents.
