NORTH PORT, FL - The last phase of widening on Sumter Blvd in North Port is now scheduled.

Earlier this year, North Port received a state infrastructure loan worth $10 million to repair and widen the roadway, which currently goes from four lanes, down to two lanes, and back to four lanes.

In addition to the widening, a beautification and repair project are also in the works. Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year.

The $10 million project should start in in October or November. It has taken 10 years for the project to get done.

Seven South Newsroom Reporter Josh Taylor will have the latest tonight on ABC 7.
