SARASOTA COUNTY - An early morning fire in Nokomis Saturday is being investigated as an arson. The couple which lived there believes they were target because they are gay.

Allie Langley and her partner Carolyn Wojtczak told ABC 7 Monday that they have been threatened by neighbors before. In the hours leading up to the Saturday fire, their water line was snapped and their tires were slashed. The two narrowly escaped the fire. Six of their cats were not so lucky.

They believe they were also singled out because they've helped people in the neighborhood who were homeless and or on drugs.

Seven South Newsroom reporter Josh Taylor will have the very latest on the developing story coming up this evening on ABC 7.
