SARASOTA, Fla. -- "All Faith's Food Bank" kicked off it's annual campaign to end summer hunger with a breakfast this morning at Michael's on East.
The annual drive is aimed at the 40,000 students in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties that are regularly hungry when meals at school aren't an option during the summer break.
The Chief Executive Officer of "All Faiths Food Bank," Sandra Frank, says many people forget about the needy in June and July.
"They do tend to forget and that's why we launched the campaign in 2014. Our residents often forget when school ends, hunger begins for at least half our kids," Frank said.
Frank said last year's campaign raised $1.3 million dollars to help feed 2 million meals to 31,000 children in the two counties.
A two-week drive begins April 1st.
