9/14/12 - Honeydew Ginger Green Tea Fizz

A cool and refreshing drink for those September Humidity blues

2 bags green tea

2 TBSP. sugar

1 -1 inch piece ginger, peeled and sliced and frozen for at least 4 hours

3 cups honeydew melon-

1- 12 ounce can ginger ale

¼ cup fresh lemon


¼ cup fresh mint leaves

Bring 1 ½ cups water to a simmer in a medium saucepan/ Remove from heat and add tea bags and let sit for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and cool the tea to room temp.

In another pot bring 3 TBSP. water, the sugar and ginger to simmer for about 2 minutes until sugar dissolves- this makes the ginger simple syrup.

Remove from heat- remove ginger and cool

Combine tea, ginger syrup and frozen melon with lemons juice and mint- blend well

Top with a splash of ginger ale.
