SARASOTA, FL - Sarasota is often seen as being unfriendly toward homeless people.

From telling the homeless to get their belongings off a city street, to fencing off the grass at Five Points Park, to questionable arrests, to complaints from downtown business owners, the examples are numerous.

Today, highly regarded homelessness expert Robert Marbut, will be in Sarasota for a presentation about how the community might approach the issue.

Community leaders will also weigh the option of temporarily hiring Marbut to the help the city find a better solution to what many now consider a problem.

ABC 7 Reporter Josh Taylor is at the event, and will bring you more details tonight on ABC 7 News at 5.
