Sarasota Schools offer free flu shots

SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - With flu season in full swing, Sarasota County Schools are offering free flu vaccines for students.

According to a press release from Sarasota County Schools, the flu is particularly contagious this year and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the flu vaccine as the first line of defense.

The free flu clinics will take place Monday, Feb. 12 and Tuesday, Feb. 13 after school from 3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 12, flu vaccines can be obtained after school until 6:00 p.m. at:

Booker Middle School

Cranberry Elementary

Sky Academy in Venice

Tuesday, Feb. 13, flu vaccines will be offered after school until 6:00 p.m. at:

Tuttle Elementary

Laurel Nokomis School

North Port High School

Parents who wish to have their students vaccinated must fill out the Flu Consent Form on the Sarasota Schools Website.

Free flu vaccines for students are also available at no cost every weekday at the Health Department in Sarasota and North Port.
