SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - If you thought the flu outbreak was coming to end, think again. The virus is still on the rise across the nation and here on the Suncoast.
Sarasota health professionals say the hospital is managing a higher than average volume of flu patients.
Within the past three weeks the hospital has had 273 patients test positive for the flu, doubling the number of cases on the Suncoast.
Within a six week period between late November to the first week of January 279 tested positive for the flu.
Last year between that same six week period only 81 people tested positive.
Flu season last through April and health professionals say it's never too late to get the flu vaccine.
