What steps are you willing to take in the quest to be thin?

Sarasota, Fla. -- How much do you want to lose? Ten, Twenty, how about a hundred pounds or more. Now, the question is how will you get there?

Suncoast resident, Jennifer Corn lost 147-Lbs, she was her heaviest two years ago an is still in the process of losing, but, it wasn't easy.

"It's been a long road for me, and I was very self conscious, just really kind of in on myself, and I didn't want people to look at me and, I didn't want to be in front of people and, I didn't even want to go out in public and be around people." Said Corn.

Her family feared for her health. "They offered to pay a lot of money to have me go through lap band surgery."

She declined and explained her decision. "I told them that I wasn't worth their money and I decided to do this on my own."

Corn took her time, and that is what Jennifer Robertson Wellness Director of the Sarasota Y said is the key to success.

"A lifestyle change, for over a long period of time, it really should be over the course of a year.' Said Robertson. "It's not healthy, you can go through one extreme to the other in a very short amount of time."

Some take it too far looking for a fast fix.

Robertson said, "You become that frail gaunt looking person. It's not healthy for your body." She added, "If you have no fat for energy, your body will turn to the only energy source available. If you're not fueling properly, you're working your body out, your body will turn to eat muscle."

Corn believes in the slow process of successful weight-loss. "If you lose it too fast and you you lose too much too fast, then it can be unhealthy." She said she is healthy and happy. "People don't even recognize me. Truthfully, if I can do it, anybody can do it."
