You’ve just found out you’re having twins, which changes a lot of things for mom and dad- including how the babies may be delivered.

but a new Canadian study finds no increased risk in adverse outcomes between c-section or vaginal delivery.

Researchers at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center in Toronto split nearly 3, 000 women, who were pregnant with twins, into two groups: Planned cesarean delivery and planned vaginal delivery.

They found that although the women in the planned-cesarean-delivery group generally delivered earlier than those in the planned-vaginal-delivery, there were no significant differences in the outcomes between the two groups.

Researchers say a planned C-section did not decrease or increase the risk of fetal or neonatal death or serious complications, as compared with planned vaginal delivery.
