It appears smokers are doing a better job of keeping it to themselves.

A recent report from the national center for health statistics finds a drop in the number of kids without asthma being exposed to secondhand smoke.

N.C.H.S researchers looked at the percentage of child with, or without asthma who were exposed to secondhand smoke between 1999 and 2010.  They found the number of kids without asthma who were exposed to secondhand smoke dropped 13%, but there was no change for kids with asthma.

In fact, researchers say the number of kids with asthma exposed to secondhand smoke even grew a little bit between 2007 and 2010.

Smokers may not understand that they’re not just affecting their own health, but the health of those around them, too.
