(UNDATED)- A newly published editorial about vitamins is getting a lot of attention.

In this week's Annals of Internal Medicine, a controversial piece claims that dietary supplements and vitamins are a waste of money.  The editorial says taking supplements offers no benefit when it comes to preventing cardiovascular disease, cancer, or a second heart attack.  The study also shows that multi-vitamins don't prevent mortality or improve cognitive function in men older than 65.

The National Products Association, which represents vitamin manufacturers and retailers, responded by saying that multi-vitamins address people's nutritional deficiencies, but are not "the answer to all life's ailments, as the editorial suggests."

SUPPLEMENTS ARE MY LIFELINE TO HEALTH?

IS THIS ANOTHER RIGHT TO BE TAKEN AWAY FROM AMERICANS BY THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION?

Are the Mega-German drug companies trying to force the insidious CODEX as they have in Europe? It’s a Bunch of ball. I have been taking supplement since I was 17, when there was a promotion in Hawaii. Just turned 70 and never had a sick day in my life; no flu or common cold. Just one elective surgery to remove a fatty cyst. My suspicion is the pharmaceutical companies and doctors are not making enough profits with their medications. My daily intake of natural organic liquid supplements and herbs has saved me a fortune and years of sicknesses. Everyday is a regimen of Fruit, vegetables and my exercise routine. Yes, I take vitamins--but not the synthetic garbage. Remember drugs cover up the illness, usually doesn't cure the problem? Tell the American College of Physicians they can stick there report, where the sun doesn’t shine.

My 65 year old wife fell on the stairs and suffered a knee injury and after surgery was given pain medication. After a while the medication was unable to stem the pain. I did some research and found a natural herbal supplement, that instead of a acute pain grade of 1 to 10, for her being a 10 plus, the inflammation was reduced and now she is able to walk correctly with a 1 to 10 ratio—now being a 2. I pay my exorbitant taxes—NOW LEAVE ME AND MY SUPPLEMENTS ALONE?

This is more of the usual deceptive anti-vitamin propaganda. These anti-bashing arguments and "studies" are little more than distortions of the true facts. The medical orthodoxy, along with their sponsored mass media, have been telling the public distortions and lies about the benefits of supplements for decades. And they do it not just blatantly but by intentionally designing scientific "studies" to fail vitamins.

The propaganda culture never stop spewing out disinformation on supplements so most people believe this misinformation instead of checking things out a bit more for themselves. For a worthwhile article revealing many of this misleading hype by both the popular media and the medical establishment google/bing "2 Big Lies: No Vitamin Benefits & Supplements Are Very Dangerous by Rolf Hefti"
