Living in greener space may make you happier over the long term, according to new research from the UK.

The study examined the mental health and happiness of hundreds of people in the UK who moved from urban areas to greener areas, and those who moved in the opposite direction. Those who moved to greener areas showed improved mental health and reported being happier over the three years they were studied.

"Moving to greener urban areas was associated with sustained mental health improvements, suggesting that environmental policies to increase urban green space may have sustainable public health benefits," researchers wrote.
