According to child injury research from Nationwide Children's Hospital, baby gates that are meant to protect children actually send 1,800 kids a year to the hospital.

The new study looked at national data over 20 years and found the number of kids taken to emergency rooms because of baby gate injuries nearly quadrupled during the study period.

They found, children under two were mostly hurt falling down stairs, younger kids are more likely to sustain serious head injuries related to baby gates, and, ages 2-6 often cut and/or bruised by climbing on gates.
