Ultherapy® is a new technology that delivers skin tightening and firming without the need for surgery, and delivers results over time without the need to repeat the treatment. Pellevé® wrinkle reduction treatments also firm and tighten skin without surgery, but the results are more subtle and you will need to continue with treatments to achieve desired results.

Both treatments are available at SkinSmart Dermatology and are FDA-cleared to help patients achieve smoother, tighter skin.

If you are looking to improve your appearance, we use Ultherapy or Pelleve to treat the following issues, depending on the individual:

  • Sagging skin under the face and neck
  • Loose skin under the brow around the eyes
  • Nasolabial folds, also known as the “parentheses” around the mouth
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

Ultherapy is a new type of non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin on the brow, neck, and under the chin.

It is the only FDA-approved procedure to lift skin on these hard-to-treat areas, using the energy of ultrasound to stimulate the deep structural support layers of the skin and encourage new collagen to develop without disturbing the surface of the skin. The photo above is an actual SkinSmart Dermatology patient, and you can see the results quite clearly in the after photo.

Ultherapy for the full face and neck can take about 60-90 minutes. There is no pretreatment necessary and there is generally no downtime afterward. In some patients, there can be a mild sensation as the energy is being delivered, but it’s temporary and usually well tolerated. You can opt for an over-the-counter pain medication or ask us for options if you are very sensitive.

Ultherapy results can be seen gradually over a few months and continue to improve. Some patients who bruise easily may experience some bruising the first few days or so. The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment.

Pellevé uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat the deep layers of the skin just enough to cause the collagen to contract and tighten without damaging the top layer or epidermis. This heat also stimulates the production of new collagen, resulting in tighter, smoother skin over time.

Pellevé feels like a warm massage, with some patients experiencing a tingling sensation. No anesthesia or topical numbing agents are needed for Pelleve. Many patients will need a series of three to four treatments in order to get the best results. Pellevé treatments usually take from 40 minutes to one hour for a full face treatment and between 20 and 30 minutes for a treatment solely around the eyes.

I have enjoyed my treatments with Pelleve. I have seen improvement on my skin texture and the lines around my eyes. I do recommend this for any lady-friend trying to combat against those evil crows feet (bleh). But overall my skin is a lot more smoother, tighter and healthier looking! I got the treatments done by Dr. Gulinson at

I'm very interested to know the efficacy of both Ultherapy and Pelleve ? Have clinical studies been done on Ultherapy and Pelleve ? Has the FDA reviewed the efficacy and safety of these products ? Have efficacy studies been published ?
    Thank you ,
