Hall of fame catcher helping Venice organization

VENICE, FL - An organization in Venice helping those with developmental disabilities getting some help from some local charities and a baseball legend.

Thursday Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk on hand to break ground on a new expansion project at the Loveland Center. Through the Suncoast Foundation for Children and his own organization "Fisk & Friends" they were able to contribute more than $55,000.

With more than 110 students on the campus the money will be going toward renovating and expanding a part of the facility which currently works with those needing the most support.Included will be a multi-sensory room. "We all know how privileged we are to live a normal life. We are just trying to give the people that are disadvantaged a little closer walk towards normal," says Fisk

"I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I am so so thrilled," says Madeline McGrail who heads up the work at the adult day training program.

"Pudge" as he is famously known by and his wife Linda who now call Bradenton home say the issue hits close to home. They are now the grandparents to a three year old boy who has been diagnosed with Down Syndrome.
