ANNA MARIA ISLAND - Heavy rains are continuing to cause problems for drivers on Anna Maria Island. As of now no roads are closed, but many are flooded.
Authorities have put up signs all over Anna Maria Island, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach warning drivers to slow down and take caution.
Holmes Beach Police Chief William Tokajer says people should stay indoors and not drive their vehicles if they don't absolutely need to go somewhere.
It's also feared that the flooding could get worse in the area later Tuesday afternoon, as the tide is expected to rise around 4:00. Tokajer says this is a problem that the area will be dealing with for the next few days.
IF you think you may need sand bags, you're advised to call the Public Works Department of the city where you live. They'll be able to tell you if sand bags are being offered and where they can be picked up.
