Flag house story goes viral, sheds light on foster care on the Suncoast

BRADENTON, Fla. - The story that broke last week of a Bradenton man that painted a giant American flag on his home to protest code enforcement has gone national, and has brought attention to those that provide foster care on the Suncoast.

Brent Greer says he got the idea to paint his home after code enforcement cited him for various violations, which he says included having children’s toys in his yard, a broken window, and his home needing a fresh coat of paint.

The story has since been published nationwide, with features on Fox News, NBC News, The Washington Post, and Huffington Post.

Since then, the Guardian Angels of Southwest Florida Foster Care Service has stepped in to help make needed repairs to Greer’s home.
