What's up, Joey? Suncoast weekend wrap-up: March 17th

It was a lucky weekend on the Suncoast, and not just because of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. We had theater openings, grand openings, and some good news for a local couple.

Aerial yoga has made a big boom on the Suncoast, and no one knows that better than Circusoul Yoga. They had their Grand Opening this weekend with free classes for the community, and owner Kerry Tice has a good idea why the class is so popular.

“They get so many benefits from the flying class,” says Tice. “It’s really fun. People are really getting into working out and being more conscious of their bodies. What better way to do it than to have fun and look good while you’re doing it?”

I even got in on the action, though an aerial yoga star I am not. At least not yet...

Asolo Rep opened their production of The Grapes of Wrath. Under the direction of Tony Award winning director Frank Galati, the production features live music from local musicians and has earned rave reviews.

Good news for the Buchanan family. Diana Kelly Buchanan and her husband Matt just announced that they’re expecting. They couldn’t be a nicer couple, and I’m thrilled that they’ll soon be parents.

And it’s a weekend of celebrating the Irish. Lakewood Ranch already kicked off the St Paddy’s Day festivities with the Irish Celtic Festival. The day was filled with live music, irish dancing and food and drink, and ended with a contest for the best legs in a kilt.

As always, if you spot any exciting events while you’re out and about, send me a photo at pix@mysuncoast.com.
