The 4th annual Sarasota Fabulous Independent Film Festival, an LGBTq film fest begins Friday, Aug 22. This  year, opening the festival with the Florida première of BLACKBIRD from famed director Patrik-Ian Polk presented by Watermark Media. The first screening of BORN TO FLY is on Saturday, this high octane documentary about daredevil choreographer Elizabeth Streb has enough energy to sustain a full day of cinema. Then, the awards winner THE CIRCLE brings us into a not so long ago era where being out was not the safest idea but having a community showed that there is hope after all. A afternoon screening BOY MEETS GIRL has sweetness all over it, showing us what true love is, even if “non traditional.” Conclude the day with our centerpiece QUEERITUALITY, the last journey undertaken by, Tom Murray who left us too early. Sunday is all over the place, from Brazil with the fun and sweet coming of age THE WAY HE LOOKS to Brooklyn on a fun and unusual exploration in APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR by Desiree Akhavan, passing by the different universes traveled both off and on screen by George Takei in TO BE TAKEI, to end up in Israel with the campy and fun film by awards winner Eytan Fox’s CUPCAKES.

The festival finishes at Caragiulo’s who has been the  host for the past fourth years.
