SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - Some of the things that makes the Suncoast such a great place to live are the beautiful plants and flowers and foliage. You look around at all the lush growth, and you think "wow, anything will grow here!"
There are a lot of tricks required to getting plants to grow where you want, when you want and to survive our harsh weather conditions.
Master Gardener, Katherine Sogolow knows all those tricks and is willing to share.
She is getting ready for the 13th Annual Master Gardener Plant Sale and Ed Fest coming up Saturday. She is the Educational Coordinator.
She shows us 20 plants. These plants are propagated by Master Gardeners, featuring not only tropical ornamentals, but native and butterfly/pollinator friendly plants that thrive when planted in the "right place", and are often drought tolerant, conserving water, attracting pollinators, and tells us how we can establish a sustainable, "Florida Friendly" Yard. In the Educational part of the Plant Sale Saturday, , there will be common and tropical edible plants for sale. There will also be over a dozen faculty/staff displays, at least 9 demonstrations throughout the morning, and interactive crafts for families and kids throughout the day. To learn more about plants, take some home, and get all your questions answered visit the 13th Annual Master Gardener Plant Sale and Ed Fest, Saturday, Oct. 13, 8 am to 1 pm.at Sarasota County U.F. Extension service in the Green Building in Twin Lakes Park.
