Oscar-nominated writer-director Mazursky dies

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paul Mazursky, the writer-director of such films as "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" and "An Unmarried Woman," has died. He was 84.

Mazursky's spokeswoman Nancy Willen says the filmmaker died of pulmonary cardiac arrest Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Mazursky was nominated for several Academy Awards, including screenplay writing for "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice," ''Harry and Tonto," ''An Unmarried Woman" and "Enemies, A Love Story." He also received a best picture nomination for "An Unmarried Woman."

His other films included "Down and Out In Beverly Hills " and "Moscow On The Hudson. " He also appeared on screen in such series as "The Sopranos," ''Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Once and Again."
